Room 17, Second Floor, Haunted House, Saturday Evening

Isabelle was so very ready to move out of this place. Yes, living on an even tinier island than usual was maybe quaint and all, and she hadn't had to deal with her roommate much at all, and maybe if you squinted, there was something comfortingly familiar about the presence of the supernatural.

But. That last bit especially was so goddamn annoying. See, when Isabelle was trying to take advantage of the fact that her roommate wasn't around, and trying to, you know, relax and enjoy herself a little, all curled up on her bed in her nice pajamas (because being alone was no reason to look anything less than her best) and scrolling through some of the more not safe for the public kind of stuff she had saved on her phone... The last thing she needed was for some disembodied voice to start crying uncontrollably in the corner of her room. Right as she was about to settle down to watch that one video, too. Pretty boys getting it on didn't go with wailing, thank you very much!

And of course, the crying voice was soon joined by another one. And once those quieted down, there was a brief misty figure on the other side of the room.

"Are you done already?"

When she felt a random instance of pure dread rush through her senses, she slumped down on her bed with a great big annoyed sigh. So ready to move out of this damn place.

"In a big building with only four people in it?"

That would be a yes.

But she'd still lock her door.

"Then, it can possibly be arranged," Flick decided with a slight nod. "I'm sure it won't be a problem."

Isabelle snorted. "You sound like it's a business deal and not something that happens spontaneously between people taken over by hormones."

[flickofthewrist]

"Didn't mean it like that," Flick told her, shaking his head. "I meant I'm game for it."

[seveninchmotto]

"I know, puppy," she murmured, sounding amused. "And I would've been surprised if you weren't. You have an obvious flair for dirty talk, and the distance doesn't matter."

[flickofthewrist]

"Thanks," Flick said, taking the compliments with a quiet word and a nod. He closed his eyes and breathed quietly.

[seveninchmotto]

"And then I'll end up frustrated that you can't come and see me where I live," Isabelle added thoughtfully after a moment. "But that'll give the next reunion extra kick."

Clearly she'd thought of everything.

"Been thinking about this?" Flick had to wonder since she had options and solutions left and right.

[seveninchmotto]

"Not really, I'm just a quick thinker." And much more willing to share these kinds of thoughts than she was the affectionate, emotional stuff. Because that was how she was.

She picked her head up off his shoulder again, to see him. "What can I say? I find topics like this highly inspiring."

[flickofthewrist]

"As long as you take care of yourself while you're home," Flick told her quietly. "I can't...help with your stuff, I know, so just take care of yourself."

[seveninchmotto]

Isabelle tilted her head to the side, while her hands slid over to cradle his cheeks.

"Hey," she said. "I'll be fine, Jon. In every way."

[flickofthewrist]

"I don't doubt that." He didn't. He really didn't. "I still want you to hear it said. Because I need you to come back."

[seveninchmotto]

"I'm not going off to face anything I haven't seen before," Isabelle replied, shaking her head. "I might not even face anything at all. The city might even be completely boring, demonwise."

She gave him a very light kiss, and murmured, "I'm coming back."

[flickofthewrist]

"I know," he mumbled, sighing. "I'm just a little more wary of seeing people go after everything that's happened to me."

They might not come back.

[seveninchmotto]

"I know." His life was the worst and had left him with some very real reasons to worry. "But you already said it yourself, you'd come and get me if I stayed gone. So, I'm coming back."

[flickofthewrist]

"You better," Flick told her firmly and quietly. "I mean it."

[seveninchmotto]

"Or what?" Isabelle murmured, nuzzling his face a bit. "I mean, obviously I will. It's just that 'you better' always kinds of begs for an 'or what?' Force of habit."

[flickofthewrist]

"Or I'll come find you," he said which wasn't a very new answer but it was what would happen if she didn't make it back for whatever reason.

It wasn't a new answer. Isabelle was still going to make him reiterate it. Obviously, no one in her family wanted her to end up dead either (although they accepted the possibility as part of their culture) but it was still... new, to have someone outright proclaiming she had to come back.

"Promise?"

[flickofthewrist]

"Yes."

It was one promise he could let himself make right now.

"I promise."

[seveninchmotto]

"Thank you," Isabelle breathed against his lips before she kissed him again. Possibly to make him forget she'd just thanked him for promising that. Or maybe just because she wanted to.

It was a soft and slow kiss, whatever the motivation behind it.

[flickofthewrist]

"You're welcome," he mumbled against her lips when he could. "You're worth it."

And he meant that which is why he'd made the promise. He fell quiet, returning the kiss.

So much for distracting him, then. Oh well. It was too late to shush him, so she kept kissing him instead.

Her family ring brushed against his skin when her hand slid down from his cheek to the side of his neck. Hadn't gotten to taking her jewelry off yet when she'd changed into her pajamas.

And that bit of cold metal against his skin made him shiver a bit. He reached up and tried to cover her fingers with his, brushing the tips of said fingers over that ring of hers.

"I would come for you no matter how dangerous," he mumbled against her lips, not even thinking about what he was saying. He was just letting himself talk. "No matter how far you were."

He wasn't getting anything too smooth under his fingers. The L and the flames around the band made sure of that.

"Don't know," she murmured back. "I could be pretty far."
