The Apartment, New York, Monday

At her core, Isabelle didn't much identify as American. If anything, she was a New Yorker, but a nationality? She didn't really have one. She was a Shadowhunter, first and foremost. And they had their own holidays and traditions. They didn't tend to get too tangled up in the traditions of wherever they were stationed. No matter if they lived there their entire lives – they were always set apart, somehow. It was a Shadow World thing.

But still, Isabelle was looking forward to some fireworks tonight, later. Something special and pretty. It might not have been her holiday, but she could still enjoy certain parts of it. Besides, it seemed like a good reward for the hard work she'd gotten through today by cleaning the apartment!

Which was to say, cleaning two closets in the bedroom, which she was finishing up now. She could do more cleaning tomorrow. If nothing more interesting popped up, and if she remembered.

"Depends on what you're feeling up to," Flick told her, shrugging. "You wanna go out, we can go out."

Isabelle snorted and tapped him on the tip of his nose. "I asked first."

[flickofthewrist]

"I don't care if you asked me first," Flick said, tapping her nose right back. "I don't have any preferences. I just didn't want to be in Idris."

Her nose crinkled under his tapping.

"Do you miss Taki's?"

[flickofthewrist]

"The better question is does Taki's miss me?" Flick wondered, smirking. "Are you asking me out to Taki's?"

[seveninchmotto]

"Maybe." She tilted her head and smirked back at him. "I might also be asking you to stay in and cuddle with me while we wait for someone from taki's to deliver. But, mostly that first option."

[flickofthewrist]

"I didn't even Taki's did deliver," Flick said, raising an eyebrow. "We can do either or. I just wanna eat. Academy food sucks as you well know."

[seveninchmotto]

"I think you could use the fresh New York air you'll get on the trip over to Taki's," Isabelle decided after careful deliberation. Or a beat. Either or. "So you don't forget the neighborhood."

[flickofthewrist]

"Then, get yourself ready and let's go because I am fucking starving," Flick said, rubbing his stomach.

Isabelle gave him a quick peck on the cheek before slipping back to the closet for something fitting to wear. The cleaning clothes wouldn't do.

"If you'd let me know in advance, I would've cooked for you, you know," she said as she pulled a dress from the closet.

[flickofthewrist]

"Again, that would have ruined the surprise," he crooned, flopping down on the bed. "And I didn't wanna do that."

"So you'd rather starve," she replied, coming over to the bed to drop the dress beside him so she could peel her shirt off.

[flickofthewrist]

"I would have found something to eat if worst came to worst," he said, shrugging. "I wouldn't have starved. Believe me, I've gone much longer without food."

"Yes, you're the toughest of them all," Isabelle replied, tossing her shirt at him because she could. "I meant you're starving right now."

[flickofthewrist]

"If it got to the point of wanting to eat my arm off, I'd go find something in our pantry," he said, catching her shirt and giving it a sniff. "Mmm, smells like you."

Isabelle snorted. "Weirdo. Bet you've missed that."

Of course he probably had. She had. She had his t-shirts but the scent wore off over time.

She unbuttoned her pants.

[flickofthewrist]

"I missed a lot of things," Flick said, leaning back and watching her pants come off like the interested party he was. He grinned at her. "Feel free to do a little shimmy while you're working on your pants."

Isabelle had never been able to resist a good shimmy. There was a slow turn and everything while the pants were sliding down her hips, because far be it from her to deprive him of the sight of her ass after a long absence.

"Which things did you miss?"

[flickofthewrist]

"This comfortable bed," he said, watching her intently and grinning. "Your cooking."

He sighed as the pants went down her hips and showed off her pretty pretty ass.

"Your ass."

Of course.

"Of course," Isabelle agreed with his narrative. She kicked the pants the rest of the way off before picking them up with the most delightful bend down. "I'm going to cook you breakfast tomorrow."

[flickofthewrist]

"Oh yeah?" Flick tilted his head and watched her bend over, shameless about his leering. He sighed and sounded distracted when he spoke next. "What are you going to cook?"

"Bacon and eggs." She sounded softly amused. It was all at his distraction, yes.

She turned as she folded the pants, then set them down on the bed. This time with a nice forward bend. For cleavage, you see. "And these new pancakes I saw the recipe for last week."

[flickofthewrist]

"Mmm." Flick bit his lower lip and flicked his eyes up to her. "New pancakes? There are different kinds of pancakes?"

"Sure there are." She straightened back up. "You can put all kinds of things in them, you know. Fruit and spices."

[flickofthewrist]

"And what are you planning on putting in them?" he asked her curiously. He smiled lazily at her, still watching her change.
