Room 301, Saturday Morning

Isabelle rolled out of bed with far too much energy. Far too much. You weren't supposed to have that much bounce this early on a Saturday morning, and yet.

"I'm going to train!"

Oh yeah, loud announcements were a thing too. Sorry if you were still in bed trying to sleep, Raleigh. She wasn't even going to train, not the way teenaged Isabelle would have. No, her current version was more about getting a wooden sword and playing with it. But first she was going to have to find one, and that meant bouncing over to the closet. With much enthusiasm. Which did not lessen a bit when she saw what was actually in said closet.

"... By the Angel!"

So many dresses.

Isaac looked down at the so-called sword and tried not to laugh. "You're adorable."

Yeah, the displeased face she made up at him upon hearing that was pretty adorable too.

"No I'm not!"

Annnnd then she tried to whack him in the shin with her sword. Because he wasn't taking her seriously. And because she was pretty sure a light-ish whack wasn't exactly a Covenant-breaking offence.

"You weren't taking me seriously!"

Because sure, brandishing a wooden sword and being like seven-years-old were ways to get respect.

"Why, because I'm a werewolf?" he asked. "I don't have to stand here and take this."

Why was he arguing with a child?

Maybe because Isabelle was just so compelling a person, even when she was tiny and showing off her inherited prejudice?

"No, because you're dumb."

The level of maturity here was astounding.

Isabelle looked indignant.

"Well at least I'm not an animal!"

"Neither am I!" He was half one. Kind of.

"Well –– well, you're more an animal than I am!"

She knew math!

Isaac opened up his mouth to argue again before he realized what he was doing. "This is ridiculous."

"Oh my goood." See, this is why he worked at a graveyard and not a daycare. "I'm leaving. You just sit. Sit and stay."

Because children were like dogs, apparently.

Grown-up Isabelle would've made a dog joke here. But tiny Isabelle just scrunched up her face and brandished her sword again.

"I'll be watching you!"

Better run along, Isaac, before she decides to babysit you through another full moon.
