Room 301, Monday Late Afternoon

Well, Alec had crutches but was otherwise fine. Clary and Jace were okay too. Hodge was... gone, without a curse to keep him at the Institute. Clary's uncle person was a werewolf who'd gathered his pack to fight Valentine, but he'd still escaped, taking the Mortal Cup with him. Clary's mother was in a coma, but at least she was in a hospital now.

And Jace and Clary were Valentine's children.

Considering all this was information Isabelle had gained in the last twenty four hours, was it any wonder she had chosen to bail New York a little early in anticipation of her classes, and come back to Fandom? She needed to process. Her parents wouldn't be back in New York for a little while yet, but Jace could take care of Alec. (So could Magnus, who'd hinted as much after he'd spent the night sitting by her brother's side.)

So she was here, and flopped over on her bed.

"Do you mean recently or you never have time?" he asked, washing the ends of her hair now before going back up to her scalp one last time.

Isabelle would have given him a look, but she was too buys enjoying herself. "In the last couple of days," she clarified. "You've met me. Never having the time would not be an option."

Because she had to look fabulous.

"Because you're a very popular girl," he murmured, thinking of a few things but not outright saying them. "I think I'm done."

Said outright or not, Isabelle had a retort ready. "Because I like looking my best for me."

Having nothing to do with being popular, although you could probably (easily) argue the popularity stemmed in part from how great she looked.

She went to rinse her hair udner the spray of the water.

"I know," he murmured, rinsing his own hands in some the spray that he caught with his hands before he just watched her get the shampoo out of her hair.

Isabelle took her time with it. She had a lot of hair, and he'd been very thorough with shampooing it up. Didn't take forever, though.

Eventually, her hair was free of shampoo and just plastered against her back and her shoulder while she wiped water from her face.

She did have a lot of hair and it was beautiful hair. He just continued to watch her quietly wash her hair, marveling at how much hair she dealt with on a daily basis.

Stayed quiet, though.

Her hair was jet black when it was wet, too. As if she needed that extra boost of high contrast.

She reached out for some soap to lather between her hands.

Flick pretty much just stayed where he was. He caught some spray with his hands and splashed it on his face but he otherwise was just going to be quiet and there for her if she needed him.

'Needing' might have been too strong a word, but once she'd managed to soap herself up to her satisfaction, she turned around and rubbed her soapy hands against his chest and over his shoulders.

Sorry, he was going to have a nice hint of vanilla on his skin, too.

Well, at least it wasn't a flowery smell. Flick glanced down at his chest and shoulders and then back up at her with a hint of a smile there. He could already smell the vanilla but didn't much mind that.

He was going to be smelling it for awhile anyway if he stuck around her for a bit here. Might as well be on his own skin.

Besides, Isabelle was really just using this as an excuse to rub his shoulders. She smiled at him, a little bit.

Flick smiled back. He took a deep breath and let some of his usual tension slide out of his shoulders.

"You feeling better?" he asked, keeping his voice quiet.

"Yes," she told him, still rubbing his shoulders with her fingertips. "Are you?"

Worrying counted as not feeling good.

[flickofthewrist]

"I'm okay," he replied with a slight nod. "I never felt bad, though."

"You were worried," she retorted, her hands stilling against his skin so she could lean in for a kiss. "Close enough."

[flickofthewrist]

"I worry about you a lot," Flick said against her lips. "I just don't often let it show since I don't want to piss you off."

"Smart move," Isabelle replied, as she slid her hand over his shoulder, to hook her arms around his neck. "I can handle what I'm doing."

[flickofthewrist]

"I know," he returned with a slight nod. "I still worry. You're important to me. That's what happens."

"Cause and effect?" she teased quietly, letting her nose nudge his. She was staying close now, only speaking loud enough to be heard over the sound of the water. "I wouldn't have guessed."

[flickofthewrist]

"Something like that," he replied, closing his eyes and smiling a little wider. "I'm not going to protectively hover over you but I still worry. And that doesn't go away when you're gone. I'll worry but I won't be overwhelming."

[seveninchmotto]

"Good," Isabelle murmured. "No one needs someone hovering over them when they're battling Greater Demons." She said that pretty lightly for someone who'd been trembling when she'd been doing that. "It's a distraction."

[flickofthewrist]

"Just wish I could help you like you did me," he murmured, sighing heavily. "I wish I could do more."

[seveninchmotto]

"Sometimes staying safe and out of harm's way is enough, baby," she told him quietly. "So I don't have to worry about you, too."

[flickofthewrist]

"There's nothing dangerous going on here lately," he told her, sliding his arms around her tightly, "and everything at home seems to have quieted down."

Which he was grateful for.

"So, you don't have to worry about me."
