Room 301, Monday Late Afternoon

Well, Alec had crutches but was otherwise fine. Clary and Jace were okay too. Hodge was... gone, without a curse to keep him at the Institute. Clary's uncle person was a werewolf who'd gathered his pack to fight Valentine, but he'd still escaped, taking the Mortal Cup with him. Clary's mother was in a coma, but at least she was in a hospital now.

And Jace and Clary were Valentine's children.

Considering all this was information Isabelle had gained in the last twenty four hours, was it any wonder she had chosen to bail New York a little early in anticipation of her classes, and come back to Fandom? She needed to process. Her parents wouldn't be back in New York for a little while yet, but Jace could take care of Alec. (So could Magnus, who'd hinted as much after he'd spent the night sitting by her brother's side.)

So she was here, and flopped over on her bed.

"He's on his feet, just with crutches." Thank the Angel. "Magnus stayed over to make sure he woke up okay."

"Magnus, huh?" Well, at least they had some help back there. "Did you figure out what his reasons for getting involved were?"

"Nope." She hadn't tried to find out very hard, though. She'd just accepted the help. "He wouldn't tell me when I asked ow he found out we needed help. I guess it could've come from his massive gossip network. I watched him work it last night, it's pretty impressive."

Though not surprising. She'd been at his party and seen how varied the crowd was.

"As long as he's on your side, good," Flick said, nodding and giving her hand a squeeze. "You guys know what your next steps are?"

This time, Isabelle's shrug was much more on the general 'dunno' side.

"It's in the hands of the Clave now," she said. "They've been notified, and I'm sure they have plans already in place for searching for Valentine. Meanwhile, we wait for my parents to return from Idris."

[flickofthewrist]

Flick rubbed his thumb against her hand and glanced over at her.

"You need anything?" he asked gently.

Isabelle looked over at him, wrinkling her nose.

"A day away from home."

[flickofthewrist]

"Well, you're here so seems like you'll get that wish," he said, half smiling at her. "Just take a day to relax."

[seveninchmotto]

"That's what I meant," she told him, nodding. With a very faint smile. "Just a day to relax. I have to go back tomorrow."

[flickofthewrist]

"I figured as much," Flick told her, smiling back. "I know you're busy."

"And everyone's still in Idris for the Accords," she agreed, rolling onto her side and propping her head up on her arm. "The Institute's a bit thin on people."

[flickofthewrist]

"I know," he said again, still nodding. "You're needed there. It's understandable."

"Mm."

Isabelle spent a long moment just watching him in silence. She also brushed the backs of her fingers against his arm, but that was all.

"How would you feel about a shower?"

[flickofthewrist]

"For you or for me?" he asked, having a feeling he knew what her answer was going to be.

Isabelle raised an eyebrow at him. "Would I bother asking if it was just one of those options?"

[flickofthewrist]

"Just thought I'd check," Flick told her, shrugging. "I'm good with a shower. They're usually pretty nice, in fact."

"Well, come on then," Isabelle said, already pushing herself up and then off the bed, getting to her feet. "Let's take a shower."

She really needed to feel less like her head was full of new information.

"Bossy," Flick quipped, getting to his feet and waiting for her to head to the bathroom. "Lead on."

Isabelle pried her shirt off herself on the way and dropped it on the floor before slipping into the bathroom.

Waiting was for patient people.

Flick did the same, taking his shirt off and dropping it near hers. He toed off his shoes and socks before he appeared in the bathroom after her.

And by then, Isabelle was already dropping her skirt on the floor, and going for her bra and underwear.

She could be very quick and efficient when she wanted to. There was also faded bruising over her ribs on one side, but he didn't need to worry about that.

He was going to worry anyway. When he spotted it, he frowned, hands on his jeans. He'd gotten the zipper and buttons undone but now he was just staring at the bruising and wondering just how bad she'd gotten hurt for that to still be there.

Isabelle was pushing her bra straps down her shoulders when she noticed the staring.

"What are you looking at?"

She knew. But seriously, it was just a bruise. It was normal, if you asked her.

[flickofthewrist]

"How hard did you get hit for there to still be bruising even after you healed yourself?" he asked, looking up at her. "This from when you coughed up blood?"

"I was hit by a nine foot tall Greater Demon," Isabelle pointed out to him, though not unkindly. His worry wasn't entirely unjustified and she knew it, and wasn't trying to start an argument. "Yesterday morning. Even for me, healing fully takes time, after that."

And at least her skin looked a lot better than a mundane's would have, a day after getting hit like that.
