Room 301, Monday Late Afternoon

Well, Alec had crutches but was otherwise fine. Clary and Jace were okay too. Hodge was... gone, without a curse to keep him at the Institute. Clary's uncle person was a werewolf who'd gathered his pack to fight Valentine, but he'd still escaped, taking the Mortal Cup with him. Clary's mother was in a coma, but at least she was in a hospital now.

And Jace and Clary were Valentine's children.

Considering all this was information Isabelle had gained in the last twenty four hours, was it any wonder she had chosen to bail New York a little early in anticipation of her classes, and come back to Fandom? She needed to process. Her parents wouldn't be back in New York for a little while yet, but Jace could take care of Alec. (So could Magnus, who'd hinted as much after he'd spent the night sitting by her brother's side.)

So she was here, and flopped over on her bed.

She just looked tired, watching the ceiling.

"You can come in," she informed him without looking over. She could recognize him from the corner of her eyes just fine.

"Okay," Flick said though he made no move just yet. He was comfortable enough. "How you feeling?"

"Yesterday was insane," she sighed, rubbing her forehead with her fingertips before letting her hand rest against the bed again. "I'm recuperating."

[flickofthewrist]

"Mm." He nodded. "Want me to come back at a better time?"

[seveninchmotto]

"No." She finally turned her head, looking over at him at the door. "Come recuperate with me."

[flickofthewrist]

Flick pushed away from the door, hesitating only so he could pull her door shut before he came over to her bed. He sat down on the edge before settling back against her pillows.

Once he was settled, Isabelle reached for his hand without looking at it. Yes, she was going to initiate hand-holding. It was necessary.

"So, what's happened?" he asked after lacing his fingers with hers.

"Valentine," Isabelle sighed. She looked over at him. "Did I ever even tell you about Valentine?"

She wasn't sure if she'd ever mentioned him before, and things had happened pretty fast once they'd found out he was actually alive.

Flick shook his head slowly. "No, I don't think you've told me about him. I'm guessing that's not a good name?"

"He's a bad guy," she confirmed. "An anti-Downworlder zealot who formed a Circle of followers and staged an uprising at the last signing of the Accords. They wanted to re-start the war between us and the Downworlders, and eradicate them. They didn't succeed, but they still killed many of them. And us."

[flickofthewrist]

"So, he's a Shadowhunter?" Flick guessed. "How many people does he have following him?"

[seveninchmotto]

"I'm not sure he has anyone following him now," Isabelle replied, turning her gaze towards the ceiling again. "But he has the Mortal Cup. He can turn mundanes into Shadowhunters now. For his own purposes." She sighed. "I grew up believing he was dead. Turns out his death was faked."

[flickofthewrist]

Well, that sounded...not good.

"Do you guys know where he is?" Flick asked after a moment.

[seveninchmotto]

Isabelle shook her head.

"He disappeared through a portal," she said. "Though not before it was revealed that Clary and Jace are both his children." Because of course they were. "So, things are a little confusing."

[flickofthewrist]

What.

Flick blinked a few times and was quiet for a moment. "So, they're brother and sister?"

Isabelle shrugged her shoulders, but it wasn't really for a lack of knowledge. It was more for 'yeah, I know, nothing makes sense anymore'.

"Apparently," she supplied in actual words. "Clary never knew her dad, and Jace's father was killed when he was nine. Turned out both were Valentine."

[flickofthewrist]

"What about your brother?" he asked, remembering the state Alec had been in just yesterday.

[seveninchmotto]

"He's on his feet, just with crutches." Thank the Angel. "Magnus stayed over to make sure he woke up okay."

[flickofthewrist]

"Magnus, huh?" Well, at least they had some help back there. "Did you figure out what his reasons for getting involved were?"

[seveninchmotto]

"Nope." She hadn't tried to find out very hard, though. She'd just accepted the help. "He wouldn't tell me when I asked ow he found out we needed help. I guess it could've come from his massive gossip network. I watched him work it last night, it's pretty impressive."

Though not surprising. She'd been at his party and seen how varied the crowd was.

"As long as he's on your side, good," Flick said, nodding and giving her hand a squeeze. "You guys know what your next steps are?"

This time, Isabelle's shrug was much more on the general 'dunno' side.

"It's in the hands of the Clave now," she said. "They've been notified, and I'm sure they have plans already in place for searching for Valentine. Meanwhile, we wait for my parents to return from Idris."

[flickofthewrist]

Flick rubbed his thumb against her hand and glanced over at her.

"You need anything?" he asked gently.

Isabelle looked over at him, wrinkling her nose.

"A day away from home."
